We've known Stetson Walker (yes, that is his real name) since elementary school. His grandpa Jim Barr was a fixture on the Texas bluegrass circuit. His mom Sherri Barr Walker is quite accomplished as well on vocals and guitar, including an appearance at the Grand Ole Opry. Stetson is real, honest country. He has the voice, the boots, and is a gunslinger of a guitarist on both acoustic and electric. It was an outstanding show.

Stetson Walker 10/15/23
Shawnee Kilgore 11/12/23
One of Karen's besties from way back just happens to be Rush Evans, host of "The Singer and the Song" on KOOP radio. Because of his deep ties to the Austin and Texas music scene, we asked him for recommendations on local singer/songwriters. Without hesitation he replied "Shawnee Kilgore. She's the one!" From the first song to the last, Shawnee captivated our crowd. It is difficult, nigh impossible to explain what happened, other than you felt deeply that it was exceptional.
Susan Gibson 03/24/24
When we decided to do this house concert thing, Susan was the first artist we contacted and the first artist to book with us. We knew it would be special. We just didn't realize how special. The stories and her performance just turned the afternoon into a dear friendship conference. Even radio personality and musical history savant Rush Evans was there to introduce Susan. We had a wonderful crowd. Susan's dog sat beside her on this song. Just magical!!
Deer Fellow 10/13/24
What can we say? Before the show I wrote "No one sings like Max. No one plays guitar like Max. No one tells stories like Max. All three. On every song." Max was fantastic. New songs, old songs, funny songs, poignant songs, the whole enchilada. This was our 9th time to see him perform - and the most personal. We had our largest crowd yet and everyone left thinking they were honorary citizens of New Mexico. It's not new and it's not Mexico. :-)
Max Gomez 4/14/24

Perhaps it is because we've had a rather hot September and October (thus far), but after catching a Deer Fellow show in Austin, I was explaining to a friend that their sound was like floating in a cool pool on a hot summer day. Refreshing! After their first set at WagginTails, the same friend exclaimed "that was a great description!" Matt and Alyssa's voices just blended to a point of being a single multi-tone musical being (it makes sense when you see them). Inspired original works. Unique covers. A wonderful afternoon. Thanks Deer Fellow!

Ordinary Elephant 11/3/24
Pete and Crystal's music gently speaks to everyone who hears it. We can find a part of ourselves in Crystal's lyrics and Pete's playing and harmonies. Perhaps it is a parent or grandparent. Perhaps it is a part of yourself that needs to change. That is what makes Ordinary Elephant so very special. And you get to hold onto the fact that "Joy Has Not Forgotten Me". It was the Sunday before Election Day and while the election was not mentioned (at least to our ears), multiple guests commented how the concert really conveyed a strong sense of calm. Thank you Ordinary Elephant!

Jana Pochop & Grace Morrison March 23, 2024
Will Wallace 4/27/24

This turned into an unplugged song swap between two fantastic and thoroughly entertaining singer/songwriters. The harmonies just flowed. Guitar solos just appeared out of thin air. And the stories, oh my. We laughed until we cried. We learned all about cranberry production and harvesting (Grace married into a cranberry farming family). We highly recommend you go out and download their music. But be warmed, harmonies may just flow out of your vocal chords with spontaneity!
What do you think of when you hear the name "William Wallace"? Mel Gibson? Scottish war hero from the year 1297? Jeopardy champion? Amazing songwriter? If you picked the latter two, you'd be correct (with respect to our house concerts). Like the ladies the month before, Will Wallace played unplugged. We got wonderful stories about his time on Jeopardy, his stint in England, and all kinds of historical trivia. But the best part was that so many of these stories and themes turned into wonderful songs. Thank you Will Wallace for a wonderful afternoon!

The Rifters 10/26/25
Don, Rod, and Jim have had a couple of decades to tune their sound, and it shows. We were late to this band, but better late than never. These guys put on a wonderful, wonderful show. From 500 Miles to The Circle to Freight Train to Never Miss a Chance, the music teleported us to the Sangre de Christo mountains, meadows, and streams. One of the more amazing things was all of the relationships between our normal crowd and members of the band. Tator (our little terrier mix) ate Rod's sandwich (he had his plate behind him) while he was singing a song. That prompted some rather humorous commentary. I think we could have listened to them play for hours and hours.

Michael Hearne and Shake Russell November 16, 2025
The Rifters in October plus Michael Hearne and Shake Russell in November is kind of like a mini Big Barn Dance out in the country in Elgin, TX. New Mexico and Texas Americana Royalty at your house. They capped off the show with Today's the Day, a perfect benediction to a wonderful show. Prior to that was a steady stream of iconic songs such as The Girl Just to Dance, Never Miss a Chance, Deep in the West. We learned the meaning of Loser's Gumbo and what its like to be a senior. Michael and Shake had heard about Tator the food bandit at The Rifters show and smartly did not leave anything around for him to find. But they did dedicate Traveling Dog to Tator. He was proud.
